Unfortunately, Osteoporosis is far too common. Due to contrary belief, osteoporosis is not a general sign of aging and is not just caused by too much activity earlier in life. There is a lot you can do to prevent osteoporosis and protect your bones. You’re never too young or too old to start protecting and improving bone health. Prevention should start as a child and continue throughout your life.

Good habits that you can form to help your bone health include:

  • Get your daily dose of calcium and vitamin D – each and every day from a well balanced diet
  • Exercise regularly
  • Eat bone healthy foods such as vegetables and fruit
  • Limit your alcohol intake to a maximum of 2-3 drinks per day
  • Avoid smoking
